With 6 months of voting and 66,000 votes in the bag the 2011 Holiday Extras annual Customers’ Awards were a great success!
The event (the ‘biggest and fairest’ travel awards) were held in London on 15th September at the ICA.
Virgin Atlantic managed to grab two wins for the “Best Airline for Disabled Travellers’ and “Best Airline for Travelling with Babies” categories.
Emirates bagged a double win ad well for “Best Airline” and “Best Airline for Cabin Crew”. easyJet picked up “Best Airline” in the “Value for Money” category.
The UK’s best Airport was names as Belfast International.
The final double win went to Manchester’s Premier Inn for “Best Airport Hotel Restaurant” and “Best Airport Hotel for Families”.
This year saw two new categories; “Most inspirational travel film” which went to Shirley Valentine and “Best travel guide publisher” which went to Lonely Planet.
The awards were presented by leading travel writer, TV and radio personality Simon Calder and was attended by some of the top names in the travel industry.
Holiday Extras’ CEO, Matt Pack, said: “We are honoured and proud to be able to recognise those companies who make great service the focus of their business. Our awards celebrate those companies who make travel as hassle-free and as enjoyable as possible – leaving the customer looking forward to their next trip.”
